OST - SPF Institut für Solartechnik Research institution / University Rapperswil - St. Gallen,Switzerland
DESCRIPTION
The SPF Institute for Solar Technology was founded in 1981 and is part of the OST University of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil.
It currently has 50 employees working on various topics in the field of renewable energy technology and operates an internationally accredited test laboratory.
For more than 30 years, SPF has been a driving force in the research and development of innovative energy technologies (components, systems and processes), with a general focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, and a particular focus on solar thermal and solar electric energy.
CONTRIBUTION IN RENOWAVE
OST-SPF is the host institute for RENOWAVE and is also co-managing the project. OST-SPF has experience in data analysis of building performance gaps and HP design, and operates a hardware-in-the-loop test bench. It will therefore contribute its expertise to sub-project 2.1 "Design and technical improvement of fuel switch concepts". In addition, SPF will be involved in sub-project 2.3 "Prefabricated active façade kits", as it has extensive expertise in the design, development and testing of technologies for energy harvesting, conversion and storage, and in the development of novel heating system designs (e.g. external wall heating elements). The aim of RENOWAVE is to transfer knowledge from an EU project on prefabricated elements to Swiss industry. Finally, the OST-SPF will lead the potential analysis of the use of building data and geoinformation in subproject 2.4 "Decision support tools combining geo and building data" in order to increase the impact and market penetration of the RENOWAVE developments in the other subprojects.
